Gas Prices Are Falling: Should We Be Happy?
August 12, 2008
Gas prices are starting to fall. In Houston, I have seen as low as $3.59 for regular (it may be even cheaper). I am very thankful they have started to fall, but are they supposed to start making us happy?
Everyone has started backing off of the high-gas complaints. I know it went on for a while, and can get tiresome, especially when Congress takes a recess without doing ANYTHING about it, but why?
A year ago gas was $2.50 a gallon and that was expensive. Now we are still more than a $1 higher, and people are adjusting to it. We must continue to push on our representatives to do something. We must continue to look for alternatives, and we must decrease our foreign oil dependency.
The American society is so right now, it hurts. We are just happy it is not $4 a gallon any more. What happens when there is another crisis: $4.50, $5.00 a gallon? We have to continue to fight our oil dependency!
